The lovely has written about why she thinks #MuseumOops is so important for early (and mid- and late- ) career Museum people. We're inclined to agree!

All today we have from working on a couple of ceramic plates, which were damaged last year due to my poor handling. I was gutted at the time, I’m so pleased she’s helping to correct my mistake!

Is there a way to share the practice without identifying the museum e.g. focus on what happened in the process? Similar to perhaps we’ll only really learn through sharing what doesn’t work?

This is great programme, unless your museum is too remote to be near a biffa site and so doesn't qualify 😔😔

The one thing I always want to know more about is which switch does what... working at older sites things are often creatively wired meaning switches can often turn off more than intended... #museumhour #museumoops

When you realise (after congratulating yourself) that the 300+ records that you 'linked' to the object thesaurus did not in fact link, but just copied the term across. WHY #museumdocumentation #registrarlife #museumoops #tooearly

I relate to this a lot. This is why representation is essential - for people to feel they can have the same experiences as others even when it feels like the world is against them.

As a queer teenager in the 00’s I had no idea gay people fell in love. I knew from tv and media that they slept together and presented talk shows but I had never seen gay relationships. I think today things are vastly improved but the power of the way we depict people is HUGE!

Hey, you magnificent people working in heritage and arts over the Bank Holiday.
You're going to be helping people create some great memories, and have meaningful experiences.
And you'll want to slap some of those people, but you'll meet some gems too.

Ask curator to confirm measurements of an object, print off confirmation email chain. Once printed, realise email at the bottom asks curator to confirm measurements, and curator previously replied with confirmation. #registrarlife #museumoops

First visitors to read the label of the new exhibit:
Dad: you know this!
6 year old son: do I?
Dad: remember gravitational waves on the news? THIS is part of the technology that discovered it!

First time I do organise out of house digitisation and it was challenging to say the least: 1. The Queen turns up so I have to cancel the morning session. 2. I thought the cab was outside later but turns out it wasn't and the 5 people I've asked to help

Perhaps sharing and learning from failure is something that the major funding bodies could encourage? Also we can highly recommend

Retweeting my own tweet a) to stress the point! And b) b/c perfectionism and doing things "the proper way" is a big barrier for visitor studies profs to overcome. Some of my biggest moments have been losing sight of the reason WHY I'm doing research #VSGConf18
Quote Tweet
V important point: We need to recognise that conducting impact research as museum professionals in a practical way (in our working lives) is very different from conducting academic impact research. We can't afford (literally!) to be idealistic - we need to be pragmatic #VSGConf18

saw this photo and thought it resonated with this new group. We need the own our emotions not apologise for them. Emotions are an evolutionary technique to navigate situations. We need to listen to them - they speak volumes about out wellbeing. #museums
