Confession: Somehow something got into my garage & I didn't initially know what it was. For someone in the half light on crutches, it seemed like a giant, mutant yellow-jacket. It was actually a Hummingbird Hawk-Moth. I haven't moved so fast in 10+months.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYLtpqkMSvU …

I don't consider myself to be afraid of moths or butterflies. But a large, unidentified flying insect (UFI?) when I'm half-awake and on crutches? Absolutely gave me a startle.

Hummingbird moths are fascinating critters! We get them all the time during the summer here. We plant all kinds of flowers that both hummingbirds and hummingbird moths love

Yay! I will try and keep a closer eye out for them now that I know they’re around!

They love honeysuckle and butterfly bush. Also any deep throated bell type flower. We tend to plant a lot of those as well as milkweed to support our local monarch butterflies as well
