So I made a small meatloaf but I can’t tell if I messed it up or if the meat was bad (it didn’t smell bad, but I’m terrible and can’t actually tell). Now I’m afraid to eat it.

Sounds fine to me! The smell can also change based on what's in it. My family always added BBQ to theirs so the oven smelled like a cookout rather than "extra meaty" lol
You can usually tell if the meat is bad because the smell of it is pretty distinctive, if it smells like meat but more, it may be the additional stuff in it. The eggs might be changing how it smells to you. But if you aren't certain, better to toss and be safe than risk food it
