I tried to do the massive chain catch thing of vulpix’s and it got broken from a fleeing pokemon after 70-something so that’s the end of that experiment.

It doesnt really increase after the 31 bench mark afaik. Ive caught a shiny after 1:30 on a 31 chain and 20 min after a 31 chain. So I dunno. I also had a 71 chain and it didnt feel any faster.

Oh no, I know. But you do get a ton of candies! Which is helpful for twinking out a low pokemon.

Oh you catch the same pokemon back to back to back (etc) and you get catch bonuses in game for it.

So you only go for the same type ignoring other Pokémon?

Yup. In Go and Let’s Go it gives you extra candy and increases chances of rares spawning. There are lures, like in Go (and other Pokemon games). But if you hear about people chaining it’s to try to get shinies. Or candies. Or bragging rights. Heh.
