I list here the stories recognized by @AsiaSociety - as a reminder of what was a tough year, following tough decades, for a people who badly, badly need a break from it - to celebrate all the beauty that is and could be Afghanistan.
1. The story of the retired wrestler who would rush to the sites of suicide bombings, putting his muscular shoulders to rescuing people. 2. The story of the young man who lost much of his family to Taliban & U.S. bombings, who lost his eyes, and lost his love. What is left for him is his poetry. 3.
