Well this is great to see.. my GF broke up with me two days ago. I was single for years before hand. Kind of scared to be all alone again. Hate how being alone feels, I hate feeling like a burden on everyone else.

I’m not surprised Britain appointed a minister for loneliness. The churches in England, Wales, Scotland, Canada, NZ, ZA provided camaraderie & a feeling of usefulness through their Women’s Institutes that go back to the 1800s & were founded for women to help in their communities

Is the use of war metaphor helpful here? Shouldn’t we choose a more comforting image of bringing everyone into the local/national/global family? Or resurrect Kurt Vonnegut’s “lonesome no more” idea of social clubs using superficial features like first names or physical size?
