This bill defines "home-based education entity" and "micro-education entity" which waives all requirements and opens the door for voucher compensation.

This warms my heart. As a kid I had a coat I hated. I was given a coat I loved.
I wore it triumphantly like a badge of courage and a shield from bullying. โค๏ธโค๏ธ

3 came home from preschool with a new coat. Teachers said, โShe complains about the sleeves on her other coat. We got her a bigger one.โ They offered to get her a new backpack too (because the tiny toddler backpacks she has are gonna be trickier on the new coat).

Surprise, surprise! A private UT religious school with zero accountability has been running a massive fraud/embezzlement scheme. Thanks to radical GOP UT politicians, we are now funding these schools 2X what public schools get!

This new step ensures due process for our youth. The bill also extends the amount of time parents or friendly adults have to come to the juveniles interrogation.
Thanks to my Senate colleagues for supporting this bill, and I look forward to seeing its progress in the House!

Today, the Senate passed my bill, SB 49, Juvenile Interrogation Amendments. This bill creates clearer Miranda Rights for youth being interrogated so that they fully understand their constitutional rights. 83% of Utah children in juvenile detention centers have special needs.

Teachers stand with their whole community! All the personnel in their schools.
This bill has had no input from the education community.
The legislative branch is in charge of the supervision and oversight of the students and this abdicates our responsibility!
