At what stage does a pregnant person stop being a human?

So women lose the right to self defense upon conception? How do you figure?

      Replying to @VaJJDentata @calebsdogsdrule and

Terrible argument. Self defense is defined as protecting yourself from a clear and imminent threat to your bodily well being. Healthy pregnancies do not pose clear and imminent threats to bodily well being.

Yes, they do. Pregnancy by its nature causes emotional, physical, psychological, relational, and economic risks. It’s not a condition that should be undertaken without consent.

So anything that may pose an emotional, psychological, relational, and/or economic risk can and should be dealt w/ extreme violence in order to defend oneself from it? Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Yes, that’s the law for everyone else. Why revoke the right from women?

Lol. Ok, so now I better understand - If you *actually* think that’s the law then I’m not dealing with either someone who is A. Educated, B. Rational, C. Neither.

Jason you are in no position to criticize anyone's knowledge of law, obstetrics or rationality. You know very little about pregnancy risks & complications, or the law regarding abortion, as demonstrated by your tweets. Stop defending your position and listen to your opponents.

I'm a retired courtroom lawyer who litigated juvenile cases involving the right to abortion. I've spoken to legislative committees about pending legislation. I read appellate decisions and medical articles about obstetrics & embryology. I've had 4 planned pregnancies.

Two planned pregnancies here, resulting in one emergency and one planned c-section. I’ve had a D&C for a missed miscarriage and a LEEP for abnormal cervical cells. By far, the easiest recovery was the D&C.

I've been to hell and back to have babies, so I have no patience with the likes of Jason. Women rarely tell men about their pregnancy difficulties. We freely share our obstetric stories with other women, but not men.

It’s true. Gather any group of people who has previously been pregnant or might be pregnant and eventually the subject will turn to pregnancy and birth stories. Infertility stories, too. I’ve never shared stuff like that with cismen.

It’s something we should do more often, since there are so many men out there who are clueless about what pregnancy and birth involve. I had 2 relatively uneventful births and 1 gut-wrenching miscarriage. As painful as it is to remember, hiding these stories leads to ignorance.

I did not talk about my experiences for years while being an advocate for others. It's an invasion of my privacy. Most opponents of legal abortion assume I'm childless by choice, so they make total asses of themselves, as Jason did here.

I seldom share my experiences with anti-choice people. They assume I’m childless or that my pregnancies were traumatic and that’s why I don’t want to be pregnant in the future.

Oh my God! I am glad I was a practicing lawyer during my pregnancies. My doctor was out the morning I came in with a UTI and was 8+ months pregnant. I heard his partners whispering about me being a lawyer. I think I assured them I practiced in juvenile court, not malpractice.
