I used this service a few years ago. And when I realized I was more than 10% European, I wept. Not from shame for who I am, but from anger from the trauma of how it may have come to be. This commercial spits on the trauma in our veins and the fight of our ancestors, @ancestryhttps://twitter.com/nhannahjones/status/1118978357968850945 …

You are literally romanticizing the surprise DNA results many black folks will get due to the rampant sexual assault of black women during slavery and Jim Crow. This is so trash.

Seems like our expectations of the company that literally wants to buy and sell our DNA is a little bit high. The whole enterprise is morally bankrupt. Incredibly offensive and hurtful ad isn't that far from no respect for consumer privacy.

Yeah-that’s why I said a few years ago. This was long before we knew about these companies what we know now.

Surely every encounter wasn’t violent my mixed raced ancestors where born in wedlock as far back 4th great grandpa born in 1735. Found in census records on http://ancestry.com . As they are today. Proving it was possible

Got a kit from my hubby for Christmas. I'm very curious (as most of us are) about my African heritage but am afraid to learn my percentage of white. If it's more than 15% ....... also gear of the same realization of how the majority of us carry European blood.

When I got mine back, I got actual birth records dating all the way back to the early 1700's. I could literally see which of my relatives were raped.

My mom was a genealogist and did so much research and helped a lot of others, but she gave up on my dad’s because it is so hard to find records for slaves which is usually their owner’s wills. It’s just another painful reminder of how messed up it all is.

Not saying this is fact, but say @ANCESTORYdotCOM fixed the DNA test 2 reflect black people as being -50% African so when Slave Reparations are handed out, they could say, u're not black enough so no check, land or anything else for u. Next in line. Sort of funny, right🧐😏😬😡🤬

Don’t limit your knowledge of history to the USA history or what’s depicted on TV, it’s wrong. The countries in Africa were invading & in charge of a lot of countries. Of course TV Hollywood won’t show that. Oh & 10%European is not “white” white is not a race.
