If McConnell has the power to decide who he holds a hearing for, then he is actually making the choice of the nominee - not the President. He then weilds power over the Senate's confirmation decision, meaning he confirmed the nomination.

That means that McConnell appointed the Justice & that is not within his power to appoint, no matter who the fuck he thinks he is. He was not then, is not now & will never be President.
