At the release of '24 Hour Party People' the lad heavy Factory story needed scrutiny, I organised a panel at Cornerhouse with Lindsay Reade and Gillian "to question how accurately the female contribution to [Factory] has since been represented". Tony went mental at me.

Interesting response from Tony. In the exhibition text around the case highlighting this aspect of Factory, I ask the question whether Factory's inclusivity was deliberate or coincidental.

There was a 3rd panel member, she got a phone call from Tony threatening never to speak to her again if she attended. It was actually a fascinating conversation. His reaction was also to do with control I think, he found the film about him & chatter around it very hard to handle.

Thanks for this. Shouldn’t be surprised. There’s still a shocking amount of misogyny in the music business, much of it unconscious. Some have rewritten punk as a mainly boys’ club, and I went to a panel discussion with former music writers, where you’d think women didn’t exist.
