This was set in February before the game came out. It has since been updated.
okay cool thanks
can't you look at other tournament run times to get an estimate of how long a pool would take? over 1k entrants yeah, but you can easily figure out how quickly you could get through 16-32 etc man pools. Consensus seems to be that the game runs extremely quick.
Both @Pond3r and I looked at the numbers from CB and CEO. Numbers were all over the place. Some took 7 mins, some took 15. Evo is a 1k tournament, so we have to air on the side of caution for a first year game.
I definitely understand you want your event to run smooth for everyone and that makes sense. Will say though - with 1k people playing in pools that variability between matches will definitely average out and give you a better estimate of how much time you could expect.
Can you please release the numbers on http://smash.gg
Friday morning.
Okay
there it is. the thing no-one wants.
Well they are going to see if the matches are going to quickly it’s going to be changed I think everyone wins
yeah i read the tweet dude. changing the rules of the tournament part way through is bad. especially if its not even confirmed if its going to happen. why is anyone okay with this. why does anyone think this is a good idea.
To my understanding most people want 3/5. This is a way to compromise given that they are unsure how viable 3/5 will be for pools. I think this was done purely out of goodwill to try and appease people, changing from 2/3 to 3/5 is fine as long as it's made clear.
Changing partway through the tournament for pools matches can recieve backlash tho is what i think OP is talking about
Well if they want to get through it quickly 2/3 would be the best option
At most majors bbtag at 2/3 has more often than not taken way less than half the time it takes to run DBFZ. Which is why people are pushing for 3/5 but i also understand why people would go for 2/3 from a TO POV
2/3 bbtag is a joke and forcing 2/3 for the scene will ultimately kill the game. 3/5 bbtag goes 2x faster than most 2/3 games.
The problem is that when 2 lower level players go 3/5, matches drag on am insane amount. Personally, I would do first round of pools 2/3 and the rest 3/5
Yeah not really lol, errant hits do large chunks of health, and one would think most people going to evo for somthing like bbtag wouldnt be low level
I'm just speaking from my personal experiences. At WNF, a 25 man bracket was taking about as long as a 40 man Tekken bracket.
