      I think it's reasonable to assume that most nation states had #Spectre and #Meltdown before public announcement. If by some miracle they weren't already using these, they will be now. The difference between them and everyone else is that they had months to weaponize and test 1/n

      Unlike traditional attackers, APT attackers often care about detection/attribution and will take active measures to prevent both. Saying "we didn't observe evidence of exploitation prior to release" doesn't prove it wasn't being exploited. 2/n

      In any case, you can count on APT attackers using these exploits to their advantage. It's a late Christmas present for them that as of today they can hide in the noise with relative impunity. 3/3

      Come on let's take it to the logical conclusion incel deliberately introduced a bug that the US government could use to spy on others :-) you know you want to say it... The problem is I don't know enough about the bug to speculate if it could be seen before recent times?

          Do I think the government is that sophisticated? Or is it someone at Intel would have been a party to it? I don't know Stuxnet. It's fun to guess about but will never know

          In the near-term, now that's been found mitigation, and an excuse to update Hardware that really needed to be updated anyway got it.
