She only makes the claim to garner more supporters from “similarly aligned” organizations. She’s never cared about workers. She promotes Service Charges, which belong to the house not the workers. She’s a liar.

Digging into this bizarre ahistorical claim tipping your waiter emerged from the aftermath of slavery. There are several "fact checks" out there deeming it "true" but all are light on evidence, and rely heavily on Saru Jayaraman - a minimum wage activist. onefairwage.site/profile/saru

“Interesting”? How about moronic. In this thread attempts to claim the consumers, like those in the service industry who use for work transport won’t be the ones footing the bill. Nadeau never cared about restaurant worker though, she supported i82.

Interesting: As part of her proposed changes to the 2024 budget, @BrianneKNadeau wants D.C. to institute a $2 congestion charge on Uber/Lyft coming in/out of downtown from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. It would raise $45 million over 4 years, and help pay for the fare-free Metrobus plan.

“A new survey shows 70% of local restaurants intend to use surcharges to counter the loss of the tip credit. About 150 places have already taken the plunge.” Service Charges belong to the house, not workers. Tip credit elimination hurts workers!

The only R that can beat Biden in ‘24 is . If the is smart enough to nominate Sen Scott they win, maybe narrowly. Anyone else and the 80yo Democrat wins easily. Biden’s done some great work, but we Dems have no biz nominating an 80yo for President.

When labor and politics turn a blind eye, is nominated. Send 31 BILLION dollars to fraudulent accounts while overseeing the largest State Labor Department, and get nominated to the highest National Labor Office. #letICshustle #savethetipwage #VoteSuDown

Julie Su not only lacks the experience and competency to serve as Secretary of Labor, but she carries a record of gross mismanagement of taxpayer dollars. Under her watch, California sent out $31 billion in fraudulent unemployment benefits! Her nomination makes no sense at all.

Another piece about being an abomination of a nomination for Secretary of Labor. I’m hopeful that Senators like mine, , will let common sense and pragmatism prevail and vote against her nomination. From AB5 to tip wage, she’s an enemy of workers.

When we were fighting question D in Portland we warned that if the tip wage is eliminated service charges will become the norm. DC is proving our point. Service charges take money out of worker hands & gives it to owners. Tip Credit elimination hurts workers. Period.

Restaurant service fees can be confusing! Where's the money going? Why don't restaurants just raise prices? Why is there a service fee for takeout? Should I still tip? ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED HERE: washingtonian.com/2023/04/12/the

The Archdiocese was complicit and aided in the cover up. And as the saying were: The fish stinks from the head. The Popes were also complicit and essentially aided and abetted child predators.

For folks seeming not to understand what the rule of law is, it is the opposite of this.Prosecutors, police, church counsel, media,& the highest leaders in the Baltimore Catholic Church complicit in ensuring that pedophile priests never faced prosecution. baltimoresun.com/maryland/bs-md
So happy to have partnered with on this piece about how disastrous would be as a Labor Sec. Here’s hoping common sense Dems will vote against her nomination.

It's not only independent contractors who will be devastated by the appointment of @JulieSuCA to the DOL, tipped workers nationwide will be impacted. Reclassification of service industry workers is just a backdoor attempt at killing tipping.pressherald.com/2023/04/10/com

“Su’s damaging policies will introduce thousands of tipped workers to the transformative power of losing their jobs. Su is a vocal advocate of permanently eliminating the tip credit” I’m hope that will support workers, and vote no on her nom.

Yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of the marathon public hearing on Tip Credit Reinstatement in Maine. 7 years later & I am still standing up and speaking out for my industry brethren. This fight isn’t for the weary, but the people I fight for always have my back.

Claaaaaasic DSA: We need more housing. More housing! DC: Ok cool, here’s a shit ton of new housing. DSA: Not like that.

Downtown D.C. is struggling, and @MayorBowser is proposing a dramatic increase in tax breaks for owners of office buildings who convert them to housing. But some lawmakers and activists say its a giveaway to developers: dcist.com/story/23/04/05

The reality is ’s nomination is a slap in the face to tipped workers across the country. She sided with One Flat Wage and co-opted their insanely offensive language. I’m hopeful that common sense Senators will oppose her nomination. #86Su

How is this not all over every channel, every publication, everywhere?! An exec at the Union has been charged with smuggling fentanyl from foreign countries for years! Do we have any guess how many families she has ruined? How is she not charged with manslaughter?

The author of i82 showing his policy hurt workers. In the 7 One Flat Wage states SCs are insanely common. Oh & CA has the lowest tip percentage in the country. Proponents of One Flat Wage push policy that takes money out of server hands and gives it to ownership.
Quote Tweet
Replying to @mortimusprime11 @waltersbardc and 10 others
That's weird because: 1) It doesn't go into effect for 5 years 2) The other 7 states with this in place tip better than we do. 3) Service charges aren't common in any of them.

Wow, between banning and nominating , Biden is really trying to lose restaurant worker votes. Folks like Su who push One Flat Wage know that Service Charges are an automatic shift for restaurants. Taking tips out of worker hands and giving it to owners.

Imfuckingpressive. I’m also impressed that anyone who is so pro #45 can see through the bullshit in general.

Who has the trashies nominees super list? Keeping track of who to block manually is very 1990s inefficient.

Happy I made the trip to MD for the tip credit bill. Saru and her ilk, who often don’t work in the restaurant industry are here. The room is full of tip credit supporters, with 8 of these disrespectful hats in the front row. #OneFairWage lies.
