Why did we lose all this history? 
Nice. Reminds me of the (now removed) staff only bridge that led from the northern end of one of the platforms and above the (hidden but audible) avoiding lines. As a kid, I was desperate to go on this bridge and see the mysterious secret railway below.
Wonder what it was like to stand on that bridge as a loco goes underneath you, enveloping you in steam and smoke.
