Oh and Jeff Bezos is getting a title change, but nothing is really changing with his role at the company.

Tim Cook v. Zuckerberg has fatally wounded the tech critic premise of “Big Tech” as a unified entity. I think we will just get a rebalancing of power among the tech giants at the end of this.

The fact that the social media “platform” critique focuses exclusively on Facebook/Twitter and not AWS/Apple/Google/Visa/MC is a striking proof of its disingenuousness

It’s funny to think of Twitter applying for permission to increase rates to do cost-recovery. But also one feature of how utilities are regulated is you *absolutely cannot* turn off the white nationalists’ electricity. Is that what we want? More Nazis on every platform?

IMO, the move by Apple and Google to remove Parler from their stores is I think much more significant than Facebook and Twitter’s bans, and the move by AWS and Twilio to deny it service is more significant again. B2B suppliers acting as regulators by default.

Maybe people don’t understand that a big part of the workforce is foreign. They have no political investment in US politics, or even any real connection to Western political ideals.

I’m seeing a massive overestimate of the scale of tech worker radicalism, and underestimate of the number of resumes flying in to replace those threaten to leave.

Is critical theory, long reviled by conservatives, now more aligned with the right than with the left? Maybe so:

This seems fundamentally true to me. This “union” was created in an attempt to restore the hopes of white collar tech workers that the public good can be achieved via capitalism.
