. When professionals ask for a few weeks notice to schedule around a meeting multiple times and you continually plan meetings with a few days notice, few people will attend.

A7 personal and authentic! How can you show that the focus of the travel is important to you ant not just a free trip? How will your students benefit? I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve been able to do a TON of domestic and int’l travel for PD for the last 15 yrs.

A5 Well I’ve had a mini bio of a fallen hero and lesson plan published by for 3 travel trips I did with them. I have always done a lesson plan at least. I think social media stuff is very reasonable.

A5 it’s case by case and not always the same. One example is the bringing to my school (some of my travel is thru NHD) after visiting France and Italy to tell local stories of soldiers in WW2.

A4 it sounds odd when I say it and old fashioned? It’s sad but I hear from many in ME that say that can’t do it because they can’t leave their kids. Often their spouse does little to parent the kids it seems. My wife and I always traded off (about to be empty nesters)

A3 for students who are unable to afford travel, having their teachers go is the next best thing. Seriously, other than taking the kids it is th best way to build empathy and perspective in the classroom.

There is nothing that can replicate the experience of being there. It’s the best way to find perspective and empathy. When you get goose bumps visiting a site that transforms your teaching when you get back to the classroom.

A1: my first big travel was in 2006. Since then I have been to France 5 times, Italy and Belgium 2 times, and Germany 2 more times. Swiss, Austria, Holland, Mexico all 1 time. As PD Or as a chaperone with students
