“In a perfect world” Unless we get a Judge Dredd style scenario, I don’t think we have the moral fortitude & resources to inforce it, but it would be wonderful. We are living in a bad 80’s movie w/ those cheesy NYC kingpins as the villains. Not even the cool ones.
#lameworld -
“Bad 80s movie” is my favorite comparison for it, also. It’s like an off-brand RoboCop up in here.
-
I remain hopeful that we’ll learn from all this, but I am definitely not betting on it.
-
We learned a lot from what Rome & countless other societies did wrong. We just don’t seem to learn until after it’s gone past certain points of no return. Fingers crossed. But again. This is the
#badmovieverse… even our evil science experiment monster was “the killer bees”.

Upside, our greatest action hero, Jimmy Carter, has almost eradicated the terrifying parasitic life form known as guinea worm. (Do not google guinea worm if you have a weak stomach.)
-
Hah. I can’t envision him w/ a cape. Seems impractical. Maybe a hat like this: Also was showing footage to my girlfriend & kiddo just last week. Weird science & I used to do biology... pair that w/ a GF that likes weird Videos of science stuff. We are well versed. Hahapic.twitter.com/XQDWYP691H

My concept art has him in a Lara Croft outfit, but I guess that's okay, too.

The rendering time for wrinkles and liver spots makes the game a bit hard to play on slower machines... think I need to draw all these ideas out tomorrow. Haha!

What if we just have zero tolerance policies for people regardless of their income or social status?
-
I think the key difference, for me, is that people with wealth and power can shrug off penalties that would destroy regular folks. A poor person can lost everything over a shoplifting charge, while a rich one can defraud half the population and get nothing but job offers.
-
I also draw a hard distinction around crimes of power. As it stands, there is virtually no repercussion in America for people who abuse authority--even the ones who get prosecuted usually turn up in a similar position (executive/elected/lobbyist) a few months alter.
-
We should get rid of paying bail, and that anyone or any company that makes above a certain amount of $ should have a publicly paid and provided lawyer to them instead of their personal world's-best lawyer that no other lawyer can compete with. It would even the playing field.

Why not get rid of zero tolerance policies altogether?
-
This is generally my position, I just think that, at this moment in American history, we NEED a mechanism to separate corrupt people from the protections afforded them by wealth and power. There's lots of ways we could do this, zero tolerance is more of a shorthand.
-
Probably we need a broad revision of our laws and, honestly, our legal system, but that's not nearly as catchy.

Probably the vast majority of those in Washington would be in jail instead of in power.
