When @GretaThunberg says they know exactly what they are doing, I think she’s wrong. Even our PM said he only realised when govt scientists showed him. I’ve spoken to dozens of politicians, celebrities and journalists who are clueless about how serious it is #COP26

Friends say ‘if it was that bad it would be on front pages, the government would do a public information campaign’ and they’re right. IMHO we should focus pressure on mass media until they tell the truth on their covers at least weekly.

I don’t believe we can *ever* solve this problem until the vast majority understand their lives are at risk. You cannot expect people to significantly change their lives over something lots of the media tells them just means it’ll be a bit warmer and wetter.

I think this is essential. It's a public health issue.

Last few years have blown my mind how out of touch with science and climate change almost all people are. I think every other problem could be fixed but this is the huge huge handbrake. And I have no idea how to fix it.

Agree 100%. If the media aren’t going to educate people then it needs a massive public information campaign from the gov. I can see why Greta says what she says; the complete lack of effort to communicate to those not aware does look shady.

You only have to look at what is trending on here to see that. Most of my friends think that buying a reusable bottle will help

This is a significant point. Talking to climate people daily, it's tempting to believe the public think about this stuff as much as we do. But beyond general awareness, it's simply not a day-to-day concern for most people. Hence why every story is a climate story

100% agree. I’ve lots of ‘friends’ on facebook because of my lgbt work. If i post about that there’s tonnes of engagement. Very little on climate stuff. People say they believe it’s real but overplayed, which is what my wider family and friend say, too
