Agreed, almost think this should be the default. Looks a lot better and is more balanced with the lower chin.

I almost would like notifications section having an eink display but it doesn't make sense to have 2 technologies on the same side. Would break it up too much.

Nope because then Pixel 2 xl doesn't have notifications in the top bezel.

From what I'm seeing they're talking about moving the notifications down (just like Pixel XL 2) and not into the top bezel. If area beside the notch is just blacked out but still has notifications that would be great! But that's not how I understand it and not what I've seen.

But you replied to the concept photo saying it would be like the pixel 2 xl..... Which is why I said this concept wouldn't be like the pixel 2 xl.

I'm following you now. I agree. Concept photo would be great but not moving notifications down into the screen. I'm all for blacking out the area around the notch as long as the notifications appear in the areas on either side of the notch.

Now THAT would be worth having a notch. Guess technically you could just set your wallpaper to have a black bar at the top for the same effect...

Is that a real notch-off mode in the Pixel 3 XL? As a notch hater, this mode would be a win-win: no visible notch and status icons don't block the primary display!
