Are you kidding me? You think because consumers ‘like’ plastic bags we should just give in and allow the islands of plastic bags in the ocean to just grow bigger? Then bring your own totes and cut down on your plastic use. Even making retailers charge 5 or 10 cents per bag is better than outright bans. I do think that consumers preferring plastic bags is reason enough not to ban. (A citywide vote to ban them would’ve failed I believe.)
