Embarrassingly few races in Massachusetts are going contested this year, but I am proud to endorse a slate of candidates across the state for their primary races. I believe it’s essential to support a broad coalition of lawmakers with different backgrounds and similar visions.
Early voting in the primaries has begun, and continues through August 28th (see your individual town or city for voting hours and locations). In-person voting is September 1st. Now, onto my endorsements...

@MikeForRep (12th Norfolk) is offering new change to a district weary of stagnant Democratic leadership. I applaud his environment stance and his desire to establish universal Pre-K. His COVID-19 priorities match what the district needs.Show this thread -
@RepKevinHonan (17th Suffolk) has done a solid job during his long tenure in elected office, and I’d like to see him continue that work on Beacon Hill. His long pro-LGBT+ voting record (starting in the 1980s!) shows his vision and integrity.Show this thread -
@VoteMelissasm (4th Norfolk) is a supporter of Medicare-for-All and she opposes the Weymouth compressor station. She will hopefully bring some much needed transparency to the State House.Show this thread -
Hunter Cohen (no Twitter?) is a very young candidate in the 9th Norfolk race. I believe he has the optimism and vision—if lacking a bit in life experience—and I’m happy to endorse him.

@RobConsalvo (14th Suffolk) is the real deal, and the steady, informed expert on education that Beacon Hill greatly benefits from having. We should send him back for another term!Show this thread -
@JovanLacet (12th Suffolk) is a tailor-made candidate for the State House. A former Marine, and current attorney, he is qualified and ready to take office in January.Show this thread -
@RoweforRep (12th Worcester) understands the urgency of the climate crisis, and she has the strongest plan among the field to stop emissions & insulate Massachusetts from the worst of the crisis. I’m delighted to endorse her candidacy, even though I’m far outside her district.Show this thread -
@Barber4StateRep (34th Middlesex) has experience, and understands the pressing need for an ambitious green energy infrastructure, which is why I would vote for her if I lived in her district. Go Christine!Show this thread -
@TedPhilips (8th Norfolk), a former state house aide, has called climate change the “single biggest threat to our future,” and he’s 100% right. Although I live in the other half of Stoughton (out of his district), I hope he wins his primary.Show this thread -
@CivilTamisha (6th Norfolk), running against my own state rep, is the better choice for 2020. I’ll be voting for her because I believe she’ll bring the change we need. Her vision to improve MassHealth is spot on.Show this thread -
@Jarred4MA is a bold, progressive, green candidate that I’m thrilled to support in his race to throw out our incumbent state senator. As a former candidate in that district myself, I know he is a fantastic fit for the diverse people of Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth district.Show this thread -
Jimmy Coughlin (no Twitter?) is the only Democratic candidate for Norfolk County Sheriff with law enforcement experience, which makes him a shoe-in for this job. I’ll be voting for him, and I’m happy to endorse him.

Brad Croall is running for Norfolk County Treasurer, and I appreciate his finance-heavy background and his valuable experience on the Quincy City Council. I encourage you to vote for him.

@NealForCongress (#MA2) is a solid Democrat who understands the nature of compromise and puts climate first. His platform is reasonable and I would like him to continue his work in Washington with another term. (The late John Lewis’ endorsement helps, too.)Show this thread -
@DrNataliaLinos (#MA4) is an underdog candidate with equal parts foreign policy and healthcare experience. I don’t agree with her on everything (she has a long list of issues), but I believe she’d make a better congressperson than the other contenders (and Kennedy).Show this thread -
I had the honor to chat with
@SethMoulton (#MA6) up in NH in 2019, and I know he understands how to balance a sensible agenda with the needs of the moment. He understands the value of public service and water, and I’m happy to endorse him for another term.Show this thread -
I won’t be voting in the Republican primary (nor for a Republican Senate candidate in 2020), but if I were, I’d vote for
@va_shiva, a candidate with an eclectic and surprisingly substantive issue list. I think he’s a bit too out there but he’s better than his Republican opponent.Show this thread -
My sincere and most enthusiastic endorsement goes to Senator
@EdMarkey in his primary fight VS Joe Kennedy. Ed Markey supports Medicare-for-All and the#GreenNewDeal and knows how to compromise and build bridges for the American people. He’s tough, principled, and experienced.Show this thread -
This concludes my
#Massachusetts primary endorsements. At this time, I am only endorsing people in contested primary races. Other contested races in MA didn't have a clear candidate who stood out to me above the rest. Stay safe when voting!#mapoli#masspoliShow this thread
