Pericles: Leave with a Deal Cleon: Leave, No Deal Alcibiades: This will be the easiest deal ever! Nicias: Remain Thucydides: You’re all idiots

Dunno. On reflection, it would be Pericles who called the referendum, convinced he could persuade everyone to agree with him and then going off in a huff when the people didn’t do what he wanted. Nicias would be Leave With Deal.

In my opinion, Athens’ disaster was almost 100% Nicias’ (David Cameron) fault, alongside the elders who recalled Alcibiades out of envy/ageism/politics. Alcibiades would’ve taken Syracuse, defeated Sparta, and made himself King of Athens if he’d been allowed to do things his way.
