I dealt w/a diff issue in elementary school. Teachers offered candy to whoever raised their hand 1st & gave the right answer, but bcuz school came easily to me & they wanted other kids to not get discouraged, they'd intentionally not call on me. Adult me is still annoyed abt this
As a teacher, I never liked giving out "participation points" in class. It's almost like discrimination against introverts—

Well, western me is still annoyed about this. The aspirational buddhist me has accepted it, acknowledged that we cannot know whether being called on or not called on would have been inherently good, and is certainly not concerned with minutia from 1997. I'm a work in progress lol
