Just started learning Chinese. I make weird references out of the characters to help me remember them. Like I think the character for the number 5 looks like it could almost be a swastika 五 so in my head I think Wu Whoa Nazis are are bad. 
I wonder what a Chinese spelling bee is like. “Spell the word 堵 (du, ‘blocking’).” “Well there’s a weird line to the left side with some lines going through it, and then some parallel lines on top of a double decker beehive, and a curvy line that seems to come out of nowhere.”
