If your YouTube video gets demonetized YouTube does not promote it in recommend. Meaning your YouTube video & channel can’t grow. It’s not just “money” it’s about making content that gets seen.https://twitter.com/KoolieisKool/status/1121816303231066112 …

Just wanted to clarify that our recommendations and search & discovery systems do not look at a video’s monetization status. So a yellow icon wouldn't limit a video in recommendations. More details about this here: https://yt.be/help/i2EY

So essentially, if your video gets demonetized, it's just a sign saying it will be most likely not be recommended. Correlation /= Causation

Correlation /= causation is a great way to think about it actually. If the video has mature content then it may not be widely recommended across all audiences. Separately, it may have a yellow icon for a similar reason. But demonetized videos can be widely recommended too!

I’m lucky, I don’t depend on Youtube for revenue but it baffles me that those that do are kept just as in the dark as the rest of us. Just be honest; It makes sense from a business perspective so at least you’ll get some people on your side but just stop lying and tell the truth
