"People of color" like Natasha Tynes is the reason why I make it a point to directly name Black people within the spectrum, because there is anti-Blackness within people of color in totality.
POC solidarity is often upheld by Black people, but not maintained by others within.

For the Sunday Opinion section of the @latimes I wrote about how the term “people of color” erases black women. @latimesopinion latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/

Respectfully please be BOLD ENOUGH 2also include SPECIFIC language 4 BLACK MARIJUANA BIZ OWNERS(the ones most affected by the crime bill)in your recommendation opposed to just mentioning POC & female owners aka white women. CC:

The problem with what #NatashaTynes did was that she Punched Down.
When you punch down, you're the asshole.
Fighting against injustices is about punching UP, pushing back against the powerful who actually have influence.
Tynes punched down

posted a thread asking nonblack people of color how their family reacted or would react if they brought home a Black date. It was revealing. Many admitted their family members of color are racist against Black people. If you didn't see it :

Non-black people of color - How does your family feel about black people? Do you feel as if they are anti-black? How do you think they would react if you had a black significant other?

Yes, we need to do so much better and not leave this responsibility on Black people. Anti blackness is rampant in poc communities unfortunately I can confirm. We can and must do better for our Black sisters and brothers.

Thank you for this paradigm shift! I never disassociated the terms but there IS a difference. Ironically, there are POC within the spectrum who identify as white because that is their definition of “success”. The struggle is real.
