I actually would prefer it not to built. Toxic slug in pipelines running under our ground, really does'n;t appeal to me. I also don't care for the tailing ponds left behind from getting it out of the ground.

I agree with you about CPC and Scheer. Alberta for years has been told to diversify but they ignore the inevitable. You have countries way ahead of us on greener energy. We need to be progressive and I do understand that Trudeau is trying to head us in that direction.

The worst thing for Canada has been and is those over-paid jobs that require little education. Because of them whole pockets of Canada never evolved beyond being blue collar enclaves the populations of which having zero knowledge of or interest in the rest of the world.
-
Hey Listen, I hate the sound of Alberta’s oil patch workers whining about the rest of us , as much as any one. However , these are good paying blue collar jobs. Jobs that pay better than my blue collar job. What happens next for these people? Being uneducated isn’t a crime is it?
-
My point was that those kinds of jobs make ppl entitled, complacent, and lazy, and often their children don't ride their parents' good fortune to move on and make something more of themselves. We've seen this in the aircraft industry AND the auto industry....

... Here in the
#GTA, a great deal of needed infrastructure work in creating another segment of this group, which means we will likely have another generation, who will be young adults well into the 21st century, that thinks education is for suckers. Not great for any country. -
I’m sorry Sebastian, maybe I’m missing something. I raised my family, here, and in southern Ontario, building infrastructure. Did I do something wrong,by being in a union and getting paid enough to live? I’m not an educated man in the classic sense, but I have gained perspective
-
Stop playing the victim. I find that ridiculous when middle-class kids like me growing up in socioeconomically-mixed communities were often bullied by blue-collar kids. AND IF you didn't raise your kids to appreciate education & culture, then, yes, that is a thing you did wrong.
-
I’m not playing victim. I’m just confused by your contempt for uneducated blue collar people like me. I haven’t bullied anyone. I’m sorry if you’ve been bullied. I’ve done my best to be a good union member, vote for the right things and to raise well adjusted children.

What’s so wrong with being an uneducated working person?

Could not agree more. Didn't hear from Albertans when fishermen in the Maritimes were hit hard. As long as things were good for them...

I'm an Albertan and I agree.

Union activists and you’re happy people are losing good jobs, paying taxes and feeding families?
-
Get some retraining hillbilly.
-
Hmmm, not very nice. I thought Unions fought for workers.
-
Hmmm did you feel sorry for me when the Klein gov. told me that I couldn't stay home to stabilize my epileptic child? Did you feel sorry for me when I worked graveyard in a gas station by myself no daycare? When has anyone in O&G felt anything for anyone?
-
Certainly I feel sorry for this. high paying jobs contribute to taxes which help people in need. I believe people should make as much as possible and tax dollars should help people with situations like you describe. I pray for your strength.
-
What we need after so many years of mismanagement. Is retraining on a massive scale. We need to be ahead of the US on this period.
-
I can agree with retraining but that has to be done concurrently with building economy. You’ve described your very difficult situation and this is what we need to avoid. Let’s use the money we make to retrain, to help people in need, to develop technology, to be better.
