It appears that op-ed has been retracted from the paper. In my opinion, a newspaper should NEVER retract a piece, only issue corrections or notes. Paper’s motto is defending 1st amend. yet it pulled an OPINION piece.

this is the kind of thinking that is the natural product of an ideology that claims racism = prejudice + power. You'll see people claim this can't be racist because PoC don't have power. And also historical context justifies it. And then probably something about tone policing.
