Some of my most hated things include stand up comedy (all kinds) and people who respond to arguments not with helpful criticism but exhortations to “go read [insert name]” as if that author’s tome is some kind of grimoire or Rosetta Stone

Really weird how some people look to standup comedians as modern public philosophers and whatever shitty Netflix special they churned out as pontificating in the Agora. You can think they’re funny, whatever, but most are just shock jocks doing observational riffing on taboos.

Man.. I used to learn into that mindset hard. Don't blame myself though, Stand-Up is literally just a performance of rhetorical skills. Pure aesthetic, zero content. Can't blame people for getting suckered by it.

Yeah I have newfound respect for the “shtick” comedian who does a few funny voices and then hits their catchphrases, and the house is not only torn down but the foundations are ripped up as well
