ever since i've been a little kid, whenever i've heard some empty phrase, i've run it into the ground. i've made people hate to see (hear) it. they'll never be able to let it pass. "doing the work" is doing nothing. i want to make it less than nothing

social media socialist "organizer" types use it to urge you to read some verso book or sign a petition or something. a friend of mine started using it in 2013 about books he was reading and he urged me to "do the work." i've disliked the phrase ever since
