skimmed a piece abt the "south park legacy," saw it contains the same bits all these cultural commentaries do: 1) "it's impossible to be neutral in 2020 due to all the evil" 2) (author grapples with having liked the show/still liking it) 3) "show was good but maybe time 2 go?"

it's interesting because a lot of people are threading these needles right now, professionally or socially or whatever, but most of them will end up gone baby gone after the string or perhaps even "a plank in reason" breaks. again, interesting. "a fit subject for study"

It's probably perennial, but I've noticed that the people who seem to have any sense left always have interests outside of politics

oh, it certainly is. politics in the sense that people argue about it, conventionally speaking, generally has very few moves but provokes great outrage. they're angry over games of checkers and constantly trying to tweak the simple rules of that brainless game
