Others came and went - Barbra Streisand, Roseanne, John Goodman, Justine Bateman, Oprah, Mariah Carey, and eventually Jessica Simpson - but those first four were covered on a near weekly basis, even when they weren't working regularly or, in Bertinelli's case, at all

Kirstie Alley's weight gain seemed to be the most important, for some reason. Oprah's weight gain was public, but she always acknowledged it, so it paled in comparison. I probably saw as many photos of Alley in loose sweatpants walking the LA streets as I did photos of family
