Kirstie Alley's weight gain seemed to be the most important, for some reason. Oprah's weight gain was public, but she always acknowledged it, so it paled in comparison. I probably saw as many photos of Alley in loose sweatpants walking the LA streets as I did photos of family
The National Enquirer also did a decent job exposing baldness, though the lesser rags were better on the toupee beat. I remember learning what a toupee was when my father showed me an article about how Ted Koppel wore one. "He's bald as hell, don't let that bastard fool you."
