I mean, I remember when my dad made me watch a steady diet of cartoons in which the characters dressed in drag and then explained that arousal was unavoidable, but I'm not sure his message was intended to be shareable, exportable, or "woke" avant la lettre
My dad took me to see German U Boat Film "Das Boot" in the theater when i was 2 for my first ever movie experience. Unfortunately this results in a sum total of negative clout
Yes unless we can find a way to hook it to some woke clout catching angle. Maybe he lectured you on "tipping" the hired help at the theater so their wages can stay low while you exercise your Personal Responsbility to remedy systemic inequality

oh yes, and often these determinations are made retrospectively, still with no engagement with the media, the primary sources of the historical record, whatever. not that thinks aren't bad or problematic as such, but that isn't the point
I have no patience for parents shielding kids from TV or movies. A buddy and I took @nickyotissmith to the Beavis and Butt-hed movie in the 90s. He loved it. I loved the tut-tut glances from shitheel Manhattanites.

Many re-runs I watched as a kid were superior to much curriculum. Get Smart, Six Million Dollar Man, Hogan's Heroes, Odd Couple, Barney Miller. Writers were all supersmart even if they were slumming a bit on TV. Gilligan's Island had Shakespeare allusions - Tempest,, Hamlet etc
