This, I believe, is what the kids are calling “cope”
It comes down to a very limited and often sophistical definition of "power." The protestors say "We are clearly fighting against Orange Man and his cronies, who are the power" while various conservatives rightly point out tech/corporate/institutional alignment with left messaging
Corporations are certainly not backing the protesters in the streets, who are getting their asses kicked. But they are trying to get in front of them and use the momentum to establish more powerful controls over labor. It's not just empty advertising.
@MoustacheClubUS does a very good job explaining why this moment is great for corporate and pmc America. And we've seen how this new dynamic is being weaponized even against lower wage workers.
"Left" doesn't mean anything because it is only in relationship to right, which is only in relationship to left. But "liberal", "progressive", whatever, its the cutting edge and it will cut.
Like, as far as I know, one critique of the White Fragility book is it's another way for educated/savvy white people to move up the corporate ranks. Play the game and you win prizes.
But that has nothing to do with anything actually changing
a changing vocabulary and a bit more leeway for HR to oversee hearts and minds outside the office or while in the 24/7 office that is "work from home." people with the words and mantras memorized train the rest. the work of corporate social responsibility
