i miss headlines like "chrissy teigen DESTROYS neil degrasse tyson with LOGIC and SCIENCE" which were often just squibs featuring screenshots of some tweet with the "destroyer" repeating a trite but meaningless phrase in response to some equally insipid claim by the "destroyed"
this "daily show gotcha" phenomenon still exists, of course (doing the "jeff tiedrich" work, as it were) and perhaps the clickbait articles do too, but i no longer notice so i operate as if it doesn't
Well I think all those "Ben Shapiro destroys transgender feminist Muslim bisexual SJW" compilation videos on YouTube really made that phrasing gauche for the libs and killed the genre.
