Grifter? Meaningless unless you view your own success in the marketplace of ideas, deep down, as a hustle. Cynical? Few people are J Carville-esque happy warrior-cynics moving pieces on the chessboard. Most people mean well, even if they end up meaning nothing

I think he's more of a happy warrior. Most so called cynics in that regard seem to appreciate their craft, such as it is

Cynic is part of his brand. He's the dirty guy that will give it to you straight. Alinsky said the leader of a movement must not actually believe in it, this was a weakness. I think alot of fantasize about this kind of shedding of human desire

Yes, I think some of the folks calling out others for cynicism aspire to reach this high level of strategic enlightenment
