People mean well when they tell journalists they can't wait to "see where they land." But there are no safe landing zones. Every major media enterprise is cutting people. When they do eventually rehire, it's at reduced rates. Please don't plan on making a living doing this.

Almost all the aggregation work you see out there on a lot of blogs will be automated and soon. The technology is already there to do it.

Even in my day job, I've been on meetings about how both "management" and "labor" can be done not just remotely but by call center teams elsewhere in the world, working collectively across short shifts. My role could certainly go in that direction. "Strategic solutions"
