What's the difference supposed to be? Do you think the government is the only entity with any power?

Sure, it’s disturbing that corporations have so much power to shape the national discourse. But I don’t have a solution to that. If I wanted a platform free of all moderation, I would be on Gab. I don’t, so I’m not.

Okay. That should be enough to generate the conclusion that the comic is dumb.

I am not assured that my letter to the editor will be published, that my notice will be posted on the clubhouse bulletin board, that my submission to the corporate suggestion box will be read, or that anyone will answer the door to hear my canvassing. What is the difference?

Well, do you know the difference between a book sitting in a library unread and a book being burned?

I can choose to burn my book. That would be symbolic speech, so no should be able to stop me, even if it’s the pocket constitution, or the Koran. I should not be able to burn a library book, no matter how offensive it is to me. But perhaps I’ve missed your point?

If a book is sitting in a library unread, do you think that gives you license to burn it? If not, you understand the difference between speech that goes unheard and speech that is suppressed, which is what you were asking about.

I think the bigger point, and Oliver 2 alludes to it, is that eventually this will cease to be a matter of government concern at all, and will eventually be a matter of private concern. In other words: private HR, not public police. And, working in HR, I am *here for it*

Meaning, of course, that I await the moment when all of your forums, all of your existence, are tied to forms of private corporate compulsion. That will be interesting. An SPHR will come in handy then. Just need to avoid cancellation until then!
