Was just starting to watch news then. I even recall Hart peaking when he threw an axe and it landed on a block of wood and this (along with his Warren Beatty friendship) was cast in the media as symbolic of the new generation. Then "Hart-pence," Kennedy mimicing, etc
This was a very consequential election. My parents didn't cross lines in 80 -- they went for Anderson -- but they did here. Something was up. And if nothing else, Jesse Jackson was certainly a physical presence out there with a great voice.

Funny that both he and Corey Booker played college football but only Jackson capably projected physical power and self assurance. Booker is as soft as oatmeal
