this is one of the less dystopian aspects to remote work. you can extract some value out of the big cities from less prominent places

At the start of this pandemic my boss's boss teased the idea of permanent WFH (but only if you're good little piggies, etc). I don't think they'll let us, but if they do I'm packing up and moving as far away as the grid goes.

The way we manage it is horrific for some: imagine you were receiving reminders or "pings" every few seconds, suggesting you were missing this or that. Given the mother I had, that's old hat, but not everyone would want to deal with that

I'm so used to being micromanaged remotely by my parents that I couldn't care less. No matter how engaged I seem, I've been out to lunch since 1988 or so
