The whole work vs shoot thing went meta in wrestling in the late 90s -- was the Montreal screwjob a shoot or a work? Booking matches so that you work the boys and the smart fans -- and the kids doing the work are decades behind, keeping it kayfabe. I'm here to expose the business

Hehe, I like it... I don't follow pro wrestling but I'm an mma fan, I find the history of wrestling really interesting, it's brought up on podcasts sometimes, and catch a bit of the lingo from that...

yes, more or less. the works and shoots always go back and forth. snowden's excellent new ken shamrock biography and earlier book "shooters" make for some great reading on that subject

Yes that looked Shamrock book looked interesting - I never really realized the connections until I saw Josh Barnett win Metamoris, kind of made it into a tribute to his wrestling roots
