corporate-managed speech is the new normal. voluntary agreements to follow corporate speech codes in exchange for producing content for a social media site, or speaking while doing some gig work, or whatever. "can i speak to the manager" will eventually replace the court system

this is what it is, i suppose. HR is fairly risk-averse -- i know the field -- and will always take the easiest and safest option, which is usually cutting some worker who is even a slight bit of a PR problem (it often saves a lot of time, prevents an unemployment claim, etc.).

people have already signaled a willingness to move in this direction, in exchange for use of a website, ability to post in a comments section, or completion of some "gig" work. eventually it's going to become clear how narrow this band of allowed communication is

which is what it is, i suppose. though it's hard to say how voluntary this process was, people who had at least a tiny amount of leverage are eventually going to end up with none. eventually the number of thinkable thoughts in the marketplace of ideas will shrink to nil

empathy, emotions, good vibes, "the gentle way"... all things that build an easy-to-manage workforce. the #1 consideration at any employer is: how quickly can we remove this worker at 0 cost? at places that provide w-2s, a good long speech code can help button that up quickly.

people like to fire each other. they like to see "results." management also likes this. companies enjoy removing "pest" users of their products, too. it's all good PR. it all works in concert. the corporate speech world is a great world for a "hall monitor" or "tattletale" type

Replying to @DanSWright
It's targeted mini-demographic marketing, easy to remember, and even allows for effective if very wide ranging discipline. It does everything a company needs. The market finds a way
