a common riposte to someone criticizing someone else's work is that the first someone "doesn't do the work." this is nonsense for a # of reasons: 1) some "work" is often busywork, "being seen" at certain events 2) some "work" does more harm than good, like "canceling" a foe

      3) most claims of "doing the work" that involve reading, whether a tweeted take or a think piece or a monograph, are usually just bogus. most people read next to nothing and remember less. just ignore that one. 4) sometimes the person saying this has no idea what the "work" is

      5) sometimes lived experience is substituted for "doing the work," literally a life CV. there's no need to provide this. however, i've actually got my hardships, etc. documented in newspaper articles and personal essays all collated/tabbed in a google drive. the work

the reason i've done #5 is because i know the HR world. we really "do the work" of documentation. buttoning it up, as it were.

another common complaint leveled at people critiquing the work of other, supposedly like-minded people is that this harms "the work" writ large. this presumes those people and the person making the critique are doing the same work.

this isn't true, in many cases. sometimes people who seem as though they should be aligned with you are advancing other goals. perhaps they're careerists. perhaps they're following class interests they may not even be aware of. who can say? but it bears noting.

"critique" of the sort practiced on facebook, where libtards battle republicants in threads full of misinformation, is worthless and leads nowhere. each assumes the ignorance of the other. the liberal side, owing to the work of the daily show in the 2000s, presumes "correctness"

but that is beside the point. there is little use in me, ensconced in one particular space, studying one particular thing carefully, teaching a duck dynasty viewer the error of their ways. however there's value in me explaining why actors supposedly on one's side actually aren't

anyway, if you have ever wondered why i talk so much about "doing the work," this is why i'm "here for it." you love to see it. #TurnUp

Actually. I presume ignorance not necessarily of information that is out there, but of its significance or it accuracy. I just want people to realize reading a bunch of se and hand shit doesn't lead to enlightenment. I'm usually talking past folks.
