My #1 hottest take is that there are no class traitors. There are just people pursuing their class interests in a variety of costumes.

A traitor is always hated more than an enemy.
that sort of behavior is expected, though...what seems like betrayal within the working class is built into the system. the behaviors are infuriating but expected. there are also a multitude of scab-style behaviors occurring outside the strike context: ordering from uber, etc.

writing for $300 instead of $200, writing for 75 cents a word at a place that defeated a union drive, shopping at X store instead of Y store, on and on. when i was in the UFCW local 4, there was a strike, and while I was supportive, I also went to work mowing lawns/waiting tables

a labor aristocrat like my maternal grandfather could truly avoid "scabbing" -- no picket lines crossed, no non-union products purchased, etc. a whole lifestyle built around that. but my father's family, in WV, experienced caloric scarcity and made far more erratic decisions
