I realized the world of takes had changed forever when I wrote an article for CJR about payrates and killfees and some folks came at me because I failed to address how many people are on disability and food stamps and do not wish to be paid for their writing work
No, just smaller. I make good money writing for publications that exist at the whims of their well-off patrons. Stuff like Bloomberg, FT, the NYT, and the WSJ provide valuable info to the 1% behind paywalls. The rest of it? Who knows. Terminal, I'd say.

If someone could probably finance and fund hyper local news, that might have legs. Most attempts I've seen suffer from dreadful management and planning
