Joggers should be arrested. I’ve been saying this for a while. Horrific video shows coronavirus particles from runners can infect you even if you’re 2m awayhttps://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11360637/video-runners-breath-spread-coronavirus/ …

I ran a half marathon w zero prep to prove I could, but I only do sprint type movements

To be fair a half is wisely accepted among runners as being basically the max distance an ordinary, relatively fit person can run without training. Even a couple miles more is a whole different can of mustard for most jellyrolls

I could've handled 26, but the pace would've dropped dramatically from 2h10m to probably over 5h, given the fact that the rest of it becomes a matter of preparation for all that repetitive movement

Interesting. Well, not trying to one-up there, or anything. A half is great. 'time potlatch' is funny, btw. But I do think there are benefits to sustained cardio? Anyway.

Sure, particularly if the alternative is remaining sedentary. 50 miles a day for 30 days in a row is likely to place a strain on many bodies, though.https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/a-heart-smart-approach-to-marathons-and-vigorous-exercise …

I meannnnnnn.... I guess all I'll say is that posing sedentarism against 'fifty miles a day' is quite the dichotomy. I think there's a lot in between.

"Fifty miles" is an exaggeration, but I'm skeptical of the value of bulk cardio. Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson did fine with four to five miles of daily roadwork plus hrs of sparring in their training camps. The neoliberal disciplining of the marathon/triathlon body is problematic

Taking a ten or even twenty mile hike can be enjoyable, but training for a sherpa run up Everest -- one of many neoliberal end goals, unless they're green and prefer a "cleaner" mountain -- is troubling. They train for everything as if it were a job w/ merit promotions.
