I couldn't understand them as a kid, but having watched and participated in plenty of pseudo-parades compulsorily, why anyone would think they're a good idea even without, you know, a pandemic.

I've always like small parades, where you can stand on the sidewalk, gab, and watch humanity walk by. Has to be warm, which limits it to July 4th parades. But in NYC? Forget it.

NYC parades would be awful. It's more fun to watch disorganized humanity anyway.
