Pointing out the hypocrisy of celebrities and politicians is useful for your own edification -- everyone is looking to hustle you, after all -- but those people wouldn't be where they are today if a little exposed hypocrisy could stop them

Right now all the wonks and politicians are trying to land this covid plane with sub-2mil US fatalities while simultaneously winning their elections and raising awareness of their various pet projects. They're doing the work, even if it's not the work you want them to do

"We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" is a fitting in memoriam for a system like this. The system isn't bankrupt -- it enriched the people it was intended to enrich -- but now more and more folks get a chance to witness its inner workings. You love to see it
